Western black rhino declared extinct.

Last night my hubby and I were playing with Bing.  At the bottom of the screen was headlines. You click them and you get points. Well, there was one with a picture of the rhino on it. We clicked it, well he clicked and I read a sad headline.
"Western black rhino declared extinct"
this was a CNN link. We clicked and I felt my heart sink. Horrible ignorance has once again caused extinction of a majestic species. Remember the dodo? Me either. This is becauae it was wiped out from those jolly hunters wiping them out. Now they only exist in museums like a dinosaur.
But, back to this sub species of rhino. It was last seen in the wild back in 2006. 2006 people!! Poachers wiped them out for their prized horns that and I am sure lack of land didn't help. Now this once abundant creature will be only found inside zoos or seen in museums.  And no they more than likely will not be released back in the wild.
How sad this is and I cried last night. Many people would say,"why does this matter, um there are still some in the zoo". Well, there are no rhinos like this in the wild and that people is terrible. It is only a matter of time before tigers, the African elephant, and certain species of sharks will follow the western black rhino. Something only to be seen in a zoo or God help us in a museum.

Today in babydom

Today I figured I would get some things done around the house and I got the floors mopped, kitchen cleaned, and get some blogging done. I restarted the shoe of the day on Gofashiondeals. I feel more accomplished and I noticed my earlier writting today was a bit on the not so good side. Mainly because my boy was getting into everything. But as soon as he went down for his morning nap, I was not only able to get some listings on ebay done, I got the shoe of the day done on my other blog. YAY!
I tried to go on my walk and made it ten feet, my heart started to spaz out and I came home                                 So, here I am with my favorite sidekick, and I am blogging on my daily personal blog all while watching IMAX deep blue on Amazon Instant Prime. It has been 3 months since I had cable TV removed. My husband I know misses it. I have to say I do too. I miss my Walking Dead and Bravo TV Real housewives. I am lost without them. But what comes first? Food or Tamra getting married? FOOD, always wins.
I have to keep my finances in order and that was a quick thing to get rid of. So, off it went. My husband keeps looking for alternatives; dish, directTV, and re-examining brighthouse. But the outcome is the same, it's too much honey. And I am sorry for that.

But, we are managing with no cable. We have Netflix and Amazon Instant Video. I am also going to see if I can catch up on Bravo TV shows, as well as Duck Dynasty. It occured to me the other day; are we really that hooked on TV as a society that we can not let go of cable? Is that how it feels to not have a drug in your system? Or to give up smoking? Giving up cable is it like giving up a bad habit? For me, not so much. I am ok without it. In fact there were many days when we had cable that I turned the tv off and just sat in silence. What an amazing hour or two was that! It was ruined by my hubby coming in and turning on the tv, as if instinct took over and he HAD to have the noise. He was not even watching it. How hard is it to have a cup of coffee without hearing the news on the TV. It is all bad news anyways or repeating politcal garbage. Why can't we have a quiet day?
I think I am going to deploy a new tactic. A day of no TV, unless it is Xbox and then it must be turned down on the TV and only on the headset. The TV not being on will not kill anyone of us and it may be good to have some peace and quiet. I want to show my little man that you do not HAVE to have TV on all the time.
And I think that is one of the problems with childhood obessity, the kids get stuck infront of the TV and have no clue what amazing adventures are in their own back yards, litterally. Um, how long has it been since you used that swing set? Parents, get engaged. Even if you do not want to be out there, take a book out with you. Or play WITH them, the blackberry is not going anywhere. Just like the TV is not going anywhere. But, a life without the constant need of TV can be a great thing. So, I am going to try this little experiment and log what happens here. And see if we do alright with the TV off for 1 day. I used to be able to handle it.

My morning walk and an epiphany

Such a peaceful walk.
While I was on my morning walk this morning, I was taking in the beauty of my ruralesque neighborhood, I came to the realization; Black ops Ghosts came out, and I can not get it. It isn't for me, it is for my hubby.
I know that Christmas is around the corner, but I also know how much he wanted it. There are many sacrifices that we have had to make since I went from being a WAHM to a SAHM. I do not think I should even call it a WAHM job, what I had. It was more like working at home but no kid home with me. That, ladies and gents made my post partum so much worse. How tortuous going on break and seeing his room. Seeing his room empty and no baby bear in there. I was lonely, miserable, and soooo bored. The job was too stressful and my health went poop.
So, the company I worked for decided to get rid of accepting doctors notes. And thusly my behind got fired. I found out 3 weeks after being let go that they started to accept doctors notes again. SERIOUSLY?! Oh well, I am enjoying being a SAHM.
But, back to what I was originally talking about. MY epiphany. I realized that I needed to make a change, I had already opened my very own eBay store. My pride and new found joy, this store offers gently used baby stuff, handbags, women's clothing, odds and ends, holiday stuff, and tech. It is a lot of work, but I know it will pay off. Just like my blogs. I have to be smart about it and understand there is competition.
But, I needed something more and the question was to myself; "Do I go and get a night job?"
Most people in my life would yell no! I do after all have a now 8 month old to take care of during the day. So, what else do I do?
I write in my blogs a lot and am trying to join in Blogher's NaPloMo's November thing. I want to get writing more often and better. I frequent WAHM and am trying to find something that would allow me to be home with little man and work. This is proving to be quite the challenge. I know what I need and we need the financial help. That is one of the reasons I opened my eBay store was to help us. It actually has helped us. But, I need more.
So, I found on WAHM a writting opportunity. Now, I have not had anything published. All I ask for is the chance to succeed. A chance to do something I do enjoy and I enjoy writing in my blogs. This one I tend to fall on more than the fashion blog. I think I see Gofashiondeals and know it could be more. The issue is trying to make it more. I got to get to work. So, I shall continue to look and see what the status is and I hope the editors will give me a chance.

Oh time change.

Time changes aren't too bad, but my son's schedule has been thrown off.  His naps are short and all over the place. I just can not get him to nap.
One thing that I think may be the cause, besides the separation issues and teething, is his eczema.
It is bad, well for him.
He is so itchy and his red marks under his knees make me feel awful. I have tried numerous natural remedies and none have worked. I have looked all over pinterest and tried quite a bit. But, I fear I will have to go prescription, something I wanted to do the whole time. But, everyone and their mothers said do home remedies first! I now have to see if the Aveeno Baby for eczema works. However, I will call my baby's pediatrician first and get an rx. To have in case. I hate that my son is so itchy and miserable.
Hopefully something good happens and it clears up. From my understanding they grow out of it, I hope he does.
Until then I have to use whatever I can to make him happy. Any thoughts?

Eat your heart out Subway!

I love submarine sammiches, I mean who doesn't? I usually stick with the spicy Italian subs, toasted untoasted.  It is all good. But why pay $5.00? Well, other than it isn't a bad deal for an almost foot long sub.

So here is my version of a spicy Italian sub. I do admit i did not use the ham, too expensive.

For the sammich I used hard salami, which at some stores is $2.50-3.49 and then the pepperoni can be $3.49-4.69. I used provalone cheese and honey smoked turkey, too. I also used hoagie buns, which worked out great! Toast the sammiches and then add your favorite toppings. Such a good sammich.

Oh no,a clingy baby and you.

The other night, Halloween night to be exact was fun of fun and mayhem. It was also full of one baby who was as my sister put it needed baby xanax. He is going through the clingy faze. It was really aparent when I try to put him down for a nap and wakes up. Wakes up because he is done sleeping is one thing, waking up because mommy is not there is another. Believe me, I love him and when he needs me I feel all melty. But, when he doesn't; like when his aunt is holding him, he is a gremlin. A feisty gremlin. He is not hurting and he certainly is not in danger, but he wants his mommy. Flattering and annoying at the same time. It is also embarrassing, because he is crying at everyone. If I am not around he is OK, but, the minute I walk into view or he hears me, WATCH OUT!

He is going through a phase, I know. He will grow out of it and then not want me at all. So, I kind of take advantage of this not so interesting phase. Soon he wont want mommy. This whole needing mommy clingy phase makes it hard to put him down to play. Mainly you can not tell if he is genuinely wanting to play and just be or he wants to play but mommy better be there in reach.  He can be playing and forget I am there and thusly I get some eBay stuff done, but heavens help me if I cough or sneeze. Then it is waaaaaaahhhhhhsville. I love this little boy but, come on toys are more exciting than me. Even if our "where is baby" games are of legend, his neat noisy toys are fun! So what am I going to do about this? Let him grow out of it and let people I trust watch him. Even if it is only for an hour, at least I will get mommy time.

By the way did you know books are for eating? My son thinks so. #Lesson learned.

Tick or treat!

Last night was my little man's first Halloween! He was such a cute bear,at least while it lasted. He was adorable and I loved his costume. One thing I really noticed is the baby costumes are made too hot! Come on people, not everyone lives in Massachusetts.  Some people, for instance live in Florida; where it is hot as hell. Last night he was a sweaty mess. So, I took the costume off and left the hat on. I felt guilty trick or treating with him like that. So, I let my nieces go to the houses while my hubby stayed in view of them. He slept anyways. He was a tired little man.
There were so many cute costumes and I noticed a huge trend. Kids went all out this year. They wore the most compelling and creative costumes. Grotesque and cute alike. There was an abundance of wonderfully home designed costumes I was taken back by it. There was even a kid on stilts walking around. Cool right?
Now while there was an abundance of kids out, there was not however many houses treating this year. Money is tight and I get it, but do not leave the porch light on. I had to witness so many sad faces last night because of that. Really? What happened to Halloween edicate? You were a kid once, surely you remember.

There were some great decked out homes and people going all out on decor.I got some pics! See below!
Now on to something really compelling. Baby costumes. So, costume designers why do you make the costumes so damned hot? Sorry for the swear but really my baby was dying in it. He was miserable. And like I said above, why do you make them that way? I think retailer purchasers need to think about that. Um a baby in FL does not need the thermal protection that a baby in Illinois needs. So, parents if they don't have time to make a costume have to buy a sweat suit for their kid. I'm sorry little man that mommy tortured you in that bear suit.Poor baby.
So, on to the picture show!
